Berry Christmas 2

'The scent of innocence. A burst of deep, tart blackberry juice, blending with the freshness of just-gathered bay and brambly woods. Vibrant and verdant.'

I wanted to share the latest love in my life. It comes in a bottle and smells divine. It is the Blackberry & Bay Cologne by Jo Malone.

A brand that is very much British and at the 'forefront of perfumery'. I received this bespoke cologne as a birthday gift. It came in a Jo Malone signature box and gift bag, complete with ribbon. Jo Malone scents are an individual statement, created for her, for him and for the home.

A little confession- I first heard of this perfume when watching Tanya Burr's monthly favourites. It's a scent she repurchased and loved. Note, I don't usually run out and buy everything YouTubers claim to love - but when it comes to perfumes, I tend to go on recommendations.

This wonderful cologne instantly became a new favourite of mine. It really is a delicious scent with a warm, deep tone and fruity accent. Blackberry & Bay is a sophisticated combination that has a woody, greenness to it, which I love. If you're looking for the perfect scent or gift this Christmas, this may well be it!

Have you tried this fragrance before? I would love to know what fragrance you last bought.

P.S It's ALMOST the 25th!

what to wear?

Lurex skirt | Grace leather pencil skirt  |Sequinned skirt | Boucle zip pelmet skirt

'I have nothing to wear!' This is my usual reaction the day before a night out. If only I could wear a jumper and not feel under dressed. Well, this is exactly what Victoria Beckham wore at the British Fashion Awards this year. Victoria wore a black and white floor length skirt and backless black jumper when she picked up the award for Brand of the Year and as always looked amazing! The jumper and skirt combination is now the look I want for that Christmas night out.

I have more than enough jumpers to chose from - thanks to my obsession with cosy knitted pieces. So, I just need to find the perfect skirt to team one with. Above, is a selection of skirts that I simply adore. A leather pencil skirt has been on my wishlist for a while, as-well as a metallic, silver skirt. They both would look great teamed with a boxy/high neck knit. The mix of textures would work well together, creating a stylish, ready to wear outfit! You could always wear a dress instead of a skirt to achieve the same look.

To complete the outfit, a statement necklace or bold, large stone earrings to add some sparkle. You can never have enough sparkle!

Do you have your Christmas outfit planned yet?

It's a wrap!

When it comes to arts and crafts, I have two left hands and a talent for making a mess. I always admire people who can create something from nothing and who are particularly resourceful. So, I thought I would try some easy gift wrapping ideas and share the results. Luckily, there is not much that can go wrong when all I had at hand was ribbon, tape and brown paper. Below, are three simple ways to wrap a gift...

1. For this parcel, I used metallic satin ribbon in gold and a plush gold gift tag. As a roll of brown paper is rather cheap, you can spend elsewhere - like these oversized, merry tags. Add the finishing touch by cutting the ends of the ribbons at an angle.

2. If you are looking for inspiration, you don't have to look much further than your Christmas tree (and Pinterest). This is about as Pinterest as I will get - a trimming off the tree, tied with a recycled ribbon. This is an easy and creative way of dressing up a parcel.

3. I always have left over decorations once the tree is decorated. Simply, use these to dress up your parcel. I also used silver tape around the parcel and then tied the white and red string around and fastened with a bow knot.

These are all, easy and fun ways to make a gift, that extra bit special. It shows a little time and thought has been put into wrapping that gift for that someone you care about. I only wished, more glitter and glue was involved in this post - maybe that will be the next one.

I hope you enjoyed this post and even take a little inspiration from it. Happy gift wrapping!

Berry Christmas

Linea Mulled Berries Scent c/o house of fraser

I love nothing more than a cosy night in, on the sofa, complete with a beagle by my side. An enjoyable evening in would usually involve a film, or a new book that I'm excited to start. I also find a cosy atmosphere helps me to relax.

December can be such a hectic month for some, it can really take its toll. It's always important to have a moment to yourself and time to relax and take stock - especially after a busy day/week. A way of de-stressing could be as simple as lighting a candle in the evening and enjoying the warmth and scent. I find switching on the Christmas lights, having a couple of candles lit, helps me to instantly feel more cosy and peaceful.

Candles are ideal for achieving that homely, warm atmosphere. When I received the Linea Mulled Berries collection I was delighted how festive the scent was. The scent is a combination of cranberry, cherry and blackcurrant laced with citrus and sweet highlights - it really does sound good enough to eat! It's an easy way to create that festive feeling within your home and create a calm setting so you can relax and wind down. The Mulled Berries Botanical candle is also very decorative and has become a prominent feature on my fireplace.

This year's Christmas memories will be filled with the warm scent of Mulled Berries.

All that glitters

Christmas is almost here! If there was ever a reason to get your party heels on, here it is. It's the season for glitter and sequins, to dress up and party with friends and family. I have put together a collection of items to get you ready to sparkle! Also, they would make for wonderful Christmas stocking fillers, to spoil the people special to you.

I have chosen the popular Matte Lip Bullet from Topshop in a deep berry colour, for a darker lip. Then, Nars Eye Paint in the radiant colour Snaked Eyes to create a fun, glamorous look. Don't forget the lashes to add some instant drama.

If you want to sparkle from head to toe, the Topshop metallic heels are the perfect option, as, are the gorgeous, silver moccasins. Every outfit needs those finishing touches to make you feel good and ready for an evening out. Above, I have picked some accessories to make you sparkle that little bit more. I especially adore the retro, triangle earrings from Oasis.

When it comes to jewellery, I can get carried away, thinking 'the more the merrier'. But, as it's Christmas time, it's just the excuse I need! The brand, Crown and Glory, have the most wonderful collection of assorted pieces. These gem-encrusted Liberace kitty ears say it all really! Can you imagine wearing these with your LBD to a party? I can!

What is your favourite item? Have you got your party outfit ready?

girl meets boy

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

I have already spoken about my love for Autumn and the desire to have a wardrobe full of beautiful coats. So, taking a closer look at my wardrobe, it seems I have got myself into a style rut. Maybe not so much a rut, but I seem to dress in a way I know and like. At the moment, it's a very boyish look. A mixture of oversized knits and tops with tailored/slim trousers.

I am very much an admirer of fashion, When on Pinterest, I always find myself searching for style inspiration and pinning the outfits I love. Above, are some looks that reflect that casual, boyish look (I surprised myself by not using a single Alexa Chung image in this collage). The oversized coats, button down shirt and woolly hats, are all very much to my taste.

So, yesterday I spotted the perfect footwear for this post. Amie over at Credit Crunch Chic modelled a pair of beautiful monk shoes on her blog, here. These shoes are now on my Christmas wish list and look great worn with skinny jeans, very mod!

Below, I have made a Asos wishlist. I limited myself to six items, which was a hard task when you have endless options to chose from. The faux fur collar would be a great piece to add some colour and texture to any outfit. I also adore the jumper by Fred Perry - a British brand famous for its boyish charm!

grey & white

I always enjoy doing home posts, so went to Pinterest for inspiration. The colour combination of grey and white is perfect for a soft and modern décor.

The colour grey can sometimes be overlooked as dull and boring. However, the shades available can be quite surprising. The light grey tones are calming and can be colour matched with many others e.g. yellow, orange. I'm a fan of neutral shades and natural tones in the the home, as opposed to harsh, bold colours, as these can be more versatile and welcoming.
The walls do not have to be white to achieve this look. I can see the appeal in having a clean, white canvas, however, it is not essential. I find simply adding white accessories can brighten a room, as does the addition of mirrors. Also, plants can be your best friends when you need a little colour and life in a room.

I have chosen some favourites from stores such as H&M and Next, above. I love the idea of having soft furnishings in grey and having a white coffee table in the centre. I do my blogging from the sofa, so I like to be surrounded by throws and fluffy cushions. I don't think you can ever have enough cushions (or is that just me?), as it makes for a cosy and comfy setting. I also have white fairy lights around the fire place, for decoration and in preparation for the festive period.

Off topic, who's excited to put their Christmas tree up? ME!!

Nike : JD

My birthday is looming and I will soon be another year older. It seems as you get older, time goes by faster. I don't feel like I have a full grasp on being an adult yet, even though, I should by now! It's only this week, whilst walking the 'naughty' beagle, I saw a tree that was perfect for climbing. So, I did. I'm probably an even better tree climber now than when I was little.

As I walked through the park, being gracefully pulled by the 'naughty' beagle, I had a spring in my step. No, it wasn't the thought of birthday cake for breakfast. It was because I was wearing new Nike trainers.

A little fact for you - they were made using Gore-tex, meaning you can run in the heaviest downpour without risking wet feet. That's good to know, considering the downpours have been both heavy and frequent recently.

Nike are always so creative and innovative when it comes to design. No longer seen as just sports wear, but a brand that has become fashion forward and  style conscious.  I have seen Nike trainers styled in so many ways,  especially in street fashion features - which are so inspiring style wise. I teamed mine with Topshop jeans and a H&M chunky knit. I love that these pink and orange trainers add something to an outfit.

I'm now wearing my Nikes and I'm ready to chase the 'naughty' beagle home and start the birthday celebrations...

the cat that got the cream

I thought I would share a few pieces for the autumn, following on from the previous post. I have chosen soft, light colours and soft in texture - to keep the cold at bay with style!

Topshop have a host of perfect winter coats in store right now. I limited myself to choosing only two for this post as I could have easily picked several. The faux fur teddy is a hug in a coat that would add Hollywood glam to any outfit. As does the French Connection tear drop necklace in a dramatic v shape. It will be the only accessory needed to add some sparkle to your outfit. The faux shearling jacket with pocket and front zip detailing is both chic and cosy, the collarless design is one that is very popular at the moment and is another favourite of mine.

There are so many statement necklaces that have caught my eye. I imagine there will be a future post dedicated to the elaborate designs and array of colours. I chose one in a subtle grey/blue tone, ideal for the upcoming festive period.
I hope you have enjoyed reading. I would love to know what your favourite item from the above is.

      It's here

Autumn is well and truly here. The orange and red leaves begin to fall and crunch beneath our feet. The air becomes crisp, allowing us to throw on our warm knits. These changes come as we say goodbye to summer and welcome the Autumn with a hearty hug. It's time to embrace this season, and the magic that comes with it. I will be doing just this, whether it be a new candle with a berry or cinnamon scent or hot drinks topped with marshmallows

It's also the perfect excuse for a new wardrobe. A coat becomes your uniform as the weather gets colder. There are so many styles, such as the duster coat, the boyfriend coat, the collarless coat, etc. The challenge is picking just one. I'm tempted to go with my heart and get a teddy coat. These coats are ridiculously fluffy, comfy and oversized, what is there not to love?!
In contrast, I  also love the coats with a rough texture, in a heavy wool material -  you know that the coat will see you through to next year as well (as my mum would say).

I might not be able to decide on a coat quite yet. However, I'm looking forward to wearing cosy jumperswoolly hats and seeing what the high street stores have to offer this season.

      Thank you for reading.

      Heart Dish - Homebase
Crest Moon & Moonstone - Dixi
      Lavender Bunch - The Range
      Scented Candles - Ikea

So, it has been awhile since I've blogged, days turned into weeks, weeks into a month! I have however, spent time writing down ideas in a notebook - so I have no excuse to neglect this little blog of mine any moreI thought I would get back into the swing of things with a Favourites post, sharing the items I have recently picked up.

Firstly, the sweet heart dish, above, is  from Homebase. It's a small, cream dish with Favourite Things worded across the centre. It is an ideal place to keep my favourite necklace for example. This currently is the crest moon necklace in rose gold. I have a small obsession with moon and sun jewellery at the moment. So when Dixi had a 20% off code on offer, I couldn't resist this little crest moon. Dixi sell the most gorgeous items, very bohemian and all very tempting to buy! I call it treasure, others would simply call it jewellery...

I think many of us can admit, a visit to Ikea makes us do a little cheer inside. I went to Ikea last month, purely to get a few ideas for the home and for the meatballs! It was impossible to walk through the marketplace and not pick up a candle or two! The scented candles, above, look so lovely in my bathroom, in these soft, calming colours.
Finally, the lavender bunch tied with string, sits in a glass milk bottle by the window. It's a real bargain from The Range. It's only when you look closely, you can see that they are artificial. Again, the gentle colour of the Lavender looks great on display in the bathroom.

Have you bought any homeware recently? I would love to know what homeware bargains you have snapped up.
      Thank you for reading xx

      Paper Doll

I've been very excited to share this post as it's a collab with Carly Watts. A blogger who is endlessly creative and with keen eye for detail. Carly's illustrations are always so unique and charming. I loved the idea of making a wishlist with a paper doll theme and having Carly create the doll in only a way she could! Plus, there is the added nostalgia of making these cut out outfits as a child.

As it's coming to the end of the Summer and a popular time to go on a last minute vacation, an inspired holiday outfit seemed fitting (one last summer wishlist before we all become obsessed with knits and coats). Carly, always the professional, has created hers so that the items are the perfect size to be cut out and placed on the doll. Print it out and have a go!

So, I chose a pretty floral slip dress that can be easily worn over a bikini during the day, or worn with wedges and a holiday necklace for an evening look. Similarly, the simple cami with frill detail can be worn day or night, teamed with the white skirt - to show off that tan!

A blogger's favourite is the Grafea backpack. This peach one is an exclusive to Asos, it really is a luxury beach/travel bag that would look great with any outfit! I also had to include THAT Topshop swimsuit - need I say more?

One important item, that can be easily over looked, is a hat. I discovered this whilst sunbathing without one and hours later I had one burnt nose and forehead. Let's just say that night and the following day were not fun. Sunstroke is not fun!

Finally, the 'Meg' Diana+ to capture the sights and fun times had!

Thank you for reading. I hope you have enjoyed and do take a look at Carly's take on the paper doll here - it really is fab!!

      Enjoy today

      The North Face Jacket c/o millets / Jean - Topshop / T-shirt - Asos

Recently, I've been doing a lot of thinking and not a lot of doing. So, I decided to put the laptop to one side, put on my hiking boots and enjoy the sunshine. We went for a lovely, long walk with the cheeky Kimi in tow...

It was also the perfect excuse to wear my floral headband and try to recreate the up do Lily Melrose shared on Youtube, here. It's such a quick, easy hair style to do, plus it stayed in place all day without any bobby pins or fuss!

It's so easy to forget to enjoy the little things in life and the things we may take for granted. I rarely take a moment to appreciate the day and the present. It has become second nature to live our lives a few moments ahead - too busy to take joy in simplicity. I, for one, tend to forget there is always a reason to smile. On this day, the weather, nature and a cheerful beagle were my reasons. So, my plan is to look for the positive in each day, 'even if some days you have to look a little harder'.

I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take,
all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.
      John Burroughs

Thank you for reading. Please let me know what makes you smile...

      Tuesday, 27 May 2014

It has been two, very long months since I've blogged - a break that went on longer than planned. During this time I become more a blog reader. Rather than updating my own, I enjoyed reading and following others, old and new. Some were so inspiring and others were simply a joy to read.

So, so much has changed for me recently. Change is not always easy to accept or adapt to. I am currently looking for a new job, a task that is proving to be stressful. There is that pressure to find work quickly and to be rid of that 'unemployed' status. It can be hard to keep a positive mindset when worrying about the future. But, as the quote reads above, what feels like the end is often the beginning.

In between job searches and endless application forms, I find myself on pinterest (of course!). Above, I have made a collage of all the summer looks that have caught my eye. My own wardrobe is a little less adventurous - skinny jeans, t shirts, cardigans, pumps. This summer, I feel like stepping away from the mundane and adding some patterns, florals, pineapple and watermelon prints to my wardrobe. I  adore the playful and laid-back styles above. I was inspired by the fun, summery looks and images - all very Boho chic (Sienna Miller we salute you!).

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed. It feels good to have finally blogged. What styles/images have attracted your eye recently?

The Brit Pack Presents : the Pastel Parade

Spring is finally here, hooray! It's around this time we transition between our warm winter wear, and wearing lighter layers. Springtime also means colour! I have seen so many cool pastel shades and florals in store, I really would love some pastel pieces in my wardrobe. I don't think head to toe pastel would be for me, but I'm more than happy to brighten up an outfit with a mint, pink or blue accessory or two. I have selected my favourite pieces above...
-The iconic Lulu Guinness Lips Clutch is a fun statement piece, it would be the perfect bag for a girl's night out.
-A pair of brogues have been on my wishlist for sometime. The pair above are a dream in mint! These would brighten up your day, as well as your wardrobe.
-Ted Baker's always has such pretty prints, and the wash bags are no different! I adore the pastel houses in this collection.
-The Asos floppy hat above is calling my name. It would be a random purchase for me, as I'm not really a hat person. But, I would love to have a hat in this style (step out of my comfort zone) and in a gorgeous lilac, it is ever so tempting.

I hope you have enjoyed my pastel picks and you see something that would you like too. The wonderful girls, below (hello!), have a Pastel Parade to share with you too! - I'm excited to see more pastels and catch up on these fab blogs.

      Picture this

      Sari Frames c/o Mimosa Street
      Rocha. John Rocha double frame

It has been a whole month since I've last updated Kimi and me. I have spent the last month settling into the bungalow that I now call home. I have been buying small bits and bobs and decorating, to make it feel like mine. It took no time at all to feel at home here. So this post feels very appropriate, as I have been trawling online for pretty homeware and accessories recently, and have found so much that I loved.

The three Sari frames (above) are from the new online store Mimosa Street. The items available are sourced directly from small independent suppliers, artists and designers, which is great to know.

'... beauty and quality are at the heart of everything we do, we believe that where something comes from matters too.'

Mimosa street have many lovely and unique ethically-sourced items from around the world.  I was taken by the glass vases, tea lights and carafes - all fair trade and made from recycled glass (note; a glass bottle will take more than a million years to bio-degrade). This really is 'eco chic'.
These darling Sari frames will be used to remember happy times. I have put a cinema ticket in one - I kept the ticket as I had a really great time that day. These frames are not simply for photographs, but can be used to frame keep sakes, such as - fabrics, flyers, passport pics, pressed flowers, quotes, doodles, washi tape - to name a few. I have untied one of the fabric loops, to personalize it further I plan to use pretty ribbon to hang the frame from my jewellery tree.

The Rocha. John Rocha double frame opens and closes in the same way as the Sari frames. I purchased this in the Debenhams sale, as it is a modern and chic design. It came with the lace insert, a detail I adore. I have chosen to frame my favourite vintage picture. The black and white photograph is of my mum when she was a little girl. I think she looks so adorable and sweet, paddling in the sea. It really does bring a smile to my face.

The frames, above, are a welcome addition to my collection and it's great to be able to frame memories new and old. This spring, I plan to take more pictures and make the most of the sunshine and scenery.

I hope you have enjoyed reading. It was nice to have a break from blogging and come back with a fresh outlook. I found Tori's post and new header extremely inspiring in this sense. Have you ever taken a break from your blog?

      The Brit Pack Valentine's Edition

      1. Pink Safety Pin Skirt Primark 2. Fleur of England Berry Kiss Lace Balcony Bra

      6. VIBRANT TUMBLED BALLERINAS 7. Fluffy Boyfriend Coat topshop

Firstly, Happy Valentines Day! I'm not really one to celebrate Valentines day and funnily enough, nor does my boyfriend. Saying this, we will probably pop to the cinema and join the queue of couples who have been equally as creative on this romantic day (a film, plus popcorn, is my perfect date).

However, this is a Valentines day edit, and I have decided to embrace a little romance.. in the wardrobe department. The colour that signifies love is traditionally red (roses), but pink (roses) is a close second. So, I have created a PINK wishlist. It just so happens, that there are pastel pieces all over the high street right now. One that has been a blogger's favourite, is the pastel pink, boyfriend coat (7).
Dorothy has her red ruby slippers, I have my pink ballet pumps. This year will be the third time I have repurchased these comfy pumps, as I wear them all spring/summer!!
I have fallen head over pumps, for this gorgeous pink, Zara bag (5). The popular mini city design, in a soft, dusty shade, is a complete dream bag. I guess, Valentines day is also a day to treat yourself - the perfect excuse to make this purchase (plus these bags sell like hot cakes!).
Primark always offer the latest trends, and is the perfect place to purchase such trends that come and go each season. The dark pink skirt (1) is a steal at £10. It has been a while since I've been to Primark, but if this is a preview of what they have in store, I will have to visit soon! I just adore the safety pin detail and style!
The Zara skirt is very similar to the one Olivia wore in this wonderful, Paris inspired outfit post. Olivia has styled this skirt perfectly (I have a weakness for denim, cute pumps and gorgeous bags it seems).
Lastly, Journelle have the most beautiful underwear and lingerie. It may be a little cliché to talk about bras and knickers on Valentines day, but Journelle really do offer unique and precious designs from a variety of brands. My wishlist has grown some what after visiting this site!

Valentines day maybe all hearts and flowers, but it's also a day couples and friends exchange tokens of affection and tell one another how they truly feel. I hope you have enjoyed my Valentines day inspired post. I'm so thrilled to be part of The Brit Pack, all involved are so lovely and supportive of one another. We have all done a Valentines post, so there is lots to read this Friday (links below).
